The Department of Biomedical Sciences was established with the graduate program in 2002, and the undergraduate program was initiated in the following year. Currently, the Department has 9 full-time faculty members, 1 administrative staff, and about 220 students including 210 undergraduate and over 10 graduate students in M.S. program.  This Department is one of four departments within the College of Biotechnology and Bioresources at Da-Yeh University and shares the commitment of the College to excellence in education, research and service.

Molecular biotechnology has taken the forefront in bioindustry of the 21st Century.  The present scheme of the Department of Molecular Biotechnology takes a further step towards promoting quality research and education.  To facilitate learning, teaching and research in the to meet the challenges and trends of the 21st Century, the key study groups of B. S. program have been reorganized from Transgenic technique and Biomedical science to Biopharmaceutics and Medical laboratory and management.  This realignment of the program allows both the students and faculty members to view biotechnology from a practical perspective.  Besides, interaction and cooperative research programs cutting across academic organizations and industry have been established in this department.
